Averda, a leading waste management company in the region, announced it recently secured a contract to provide comprehensive waste management services to Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) for its various facilities across Qatar.

The contract includes the provision of waste collection services to HMC hospitals, clinics, ambulatory care centres, paediatric emergency centres, staff accommodations and warehousing facilities. Averda has won this 5-year contract in partnership with Acciona Facility Services who are responsible for complete Facilities Management at these sites. Averda’s team started work on August 1, 2020.

Under the terms of the agreement, Averda will provide end-to-end waste management services including collection, transportation and treatment/disposal (as appropriate) of general waste, bulky waste, recyclables and medical waste. Medical waste needs to be managed very carefully and in a specialised manner, with collection teams in safety suits and refrigerated transport, a service which the company delivers for healthcare customers around the world.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Acciona and HMC to provide the highest quality services to this first-class provider of medical services,” said Averda’s Country Manager in Qatar, Mariam Ansari. “It is an absolute pleasure to work with like-minded partners who also value sustainability and a high quality of service.”
