Since it was founded in 2007, BEEAH Group has made remarkable strides towards becoming a regional pioneer for sustainability and partner of choice for public and private sector institutions across the region. Recognising sustainability and technology as the pillars of a modern economy, BEEAH Group has invested in businesses that together provide a comprehensive, full-circle strategy for the future, from integrated waste management and recycling to renewable energy, environmental consulting, digital transformation, education and transport.

The group saw several milestones for the year 2022. The organisation evolved from BEEAH, a business with operations across future-critical industries, into a holding group of businesses that are helping shape the future of those industries in the UAE, the Middle East and beyond. BEEAH Group and Chinook Sciences announced plans to develop the region’s first Waste-to-Hydrogen facility to open in 2023, as an evolution of their $180 million waste gasification to energy project. The facility will be managed by BEEAH Energy, the Group’s clean energy business. The waste-to-hydrogen plant includes a green hydrogen generation plant and an onsite hydrogen vehicle fuelling station, which the partnership will try to replicate across the UAE and the region. Ajman’s Municipality and Planning Department and BEEAH Group also, signed a partnership to provide world-class general city cleansing, waste management and pest control services for Ajman’s city centre through BEEAH Tandeef, the Group’s waste collection and city cleaning vertical.

The BEEAH Headquarters was also inaugurated in 2022 by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, revealing one of the most sustainable and smartest buildings in the world and setting a new benchmark for future workplaces, as the “Office of the Future”. A waste-to-energy plant that was being developed by BEEAH Group’s joint venture with Masdar was also inaugurated. As the first commercial-scale plant of its kind in the Middle East, the plant is a landmark low-carbon energy generation achievement for the UAE while also enabling a 100% landfill waste diversion for the emirate of Sharjah by 2022. BEEAH Environment Services also announced the launch of MARASI, an online platform that streamlines, tracks and profiles different types of waste from ports, from the point of arrival to transportation and processing. It empowers agents at ports to reduce operational costs, optimise processing time, streamline complex clearance procedures and enhance visibility and accountability across the waste management chain.Within The Recycling’s waste management complex, BEEAH Group also launched two new facilities to advance material recovery efforts and increase the landfill waste diversion rate from 76 per cent. The Commercial & Industrial Facility (C&I) is one of the new facilities, which uses a robot with AI vision to automatically detect, segregate and recover materials. The second new facility is the Solid Recovered Fuel Facility, which converts waste into low-emission alternative fuels. BEEAH Group also formed a partnership with Egypt’s Green Planet to deploy a landmark ten-year sustainable waste management contract in Sharm El Sheikh, the location of the United Nations Conference of Parties on Climate Change (COP 27). Through BEEAH Tandeef, BEEAH Group began delivery of the contract before COP27 and is deploying infrastructure and solutions to advance waste management services for the decade to come. BEEAH Tandeef has already deployed a network of RFID-tagged bins, a GPS-enabled fleet of hundreds of vehicles and a skilled workforce to maintain public spaces, desert areas and tourist hotspots, in addition to community waste collection services. At COP 27, BEEAH Group also joined around 200 other state and non-state signatories on the Zero Emissions Vehicles (ZEV) Declaration, initiated by the UK presidency. As per the declaration, the group committed to achieving emissions-free mobility in its own operations, leveraging solutions from BEEAH Transport, its green mobility business.
