As Project Engineer at BEEAH Group, Fatima Yousif Al Banna leads the development and
management of innovative projects for the BEEAH Group. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sustainable and Renewable Energy Engineering from the University of Sharjah. Since joining the organization in 2019, Fatima has been responsible for leading various tenders, establishing proposals for multiple projects including landfills, waste infrastructure, waste mapping, source segregation and much more.
“I am passionate about protecting the environment and its resources. BEEAH’s services in environment and waste management have allowed me to think outside the box; and gain in-depth knowledge on how to tackle waste issues through various waste management and recycling solutions,” says Al Banna.
As a project engineer, her duties involve a combination of field and office work. She is responsible for all the technical and engineering aspects of the projects. By being part of the zero-waste to landfills project, she is contributing to efforts in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from landfills. Fatima says the most rewarding part of her job is being able to support projects like these, which are reducing negative environmental impact.
The waste sector can be challenging for both genders. However, enduring the exposure to heat and waste odour has helped Fatima to realize how strong she is in her resolution towards bringing about a change for the sake of the environment.
Women have made significant strides in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and have made outstanding contributions towards industries that have been traditionally dominated by men. “The gap has narrowed down. In BEEAH, I see a lot of women in leadership positions.”
