Following the success of its Treecycle campaign in January 2021, the complimentary fresh tree recycling initiative will return in January 2022, once again offering a sustainable solution, the home improvement and outdoor retailer ACE announced.

Partnering with Yes Full Circle Solutions for the second year in a row, the company said it will be kicking off the new year on a sustainable note. The Treecycle campaign will return to ACE’s Dubai Festival City, Festival Plaza, and Yas store from 2 - 22 January. All fresh trees dropped off at their outlets, irrespective of where they might have been purchased, will be recycled into compost. This will be done free of charge and then donated to schools and educational institutions, as per the statement.

The harsh reality of the festive season is that fresh Christmas trees eventually make their way into landfills. Putting up fresh trees is a cherished seasonal tradition. ACE said it understands the value of maintaining festive traditions, but it also understands the importance of preserving the environment, which is why it was “delighted to play a role in saving 300 fresh trees from going to waste.” The Treecycle initiative recycled these trees into compost and then visitors collected their compost bags for their plants at home.

This year, the company said it is taking this community initiative one step further. Treecycle will be donating compost created from fresh trees to local schools. According to the statement, the programme will teach children about the importance of recycling and keeping their environment green. It will also help nurture a greener environment at local schools, setting an idyllic backdrop for the eco-conscious adults of tomorrow.
