Dulsco is a leading environmental solutions provider which offers holistic solutions to a growing number of commercial, residential, and industrial clients’ waste and sustainability challenges. The company’s focus of adopting and implementing appropriate technologies over the years have resulted in Dulsco becoming one of the regional leaders in providing need-based environmental solutions, says David Stockton, CEO of Dulsco. Its transformation over the past several years, from a waste transporter to a solutions provider, has been driven by the government’s focus on sustainability and the creation of a circular economy, combined with a well strategised, technology-driven directive.
As a result of its comprehensive range of environmental solutions, backed by extensive experience, highly trained manpower and dedicated customer service, Stockton says the company is today regarded as a trusted partner in sustainability by its clients.

Top achievements of 2021
Despite a challenging global environment, Dulsco experienced several high points during the past year. The company states two aspects – its role as Official Waste Management Partner of Expo 2020 Dubai and its management of and recovery from the pandemic – stand out as clear highlights.
“Our appointment as the Official Waste Management Partner for Expo 2020 Dubai was undoubtedly a defining moment for us and through our numerous recycling plants, we have been supporting the Expo team in reducing, recycling, reusing, and repurposing waste from the event,” notes Stockton. In addition, amid Covid-19 related challenges, the company continued to invest in its people and solutions.
Other achievements
Stockton notes that Dulsco experienced a remarkable year, which saw the launch of a range of services and solutions, including:
- Paper Pulp Moulding Plant: The company’s paper pulp moulding facility is the first of its kind in the region. The facility repurposes wastepaper collected from its operations into new products, such as bedpans and kidney trays for the medical sector, cup holders and meat trays for the food industry, egg trays for the poultry sector, and seed pots for the agricultural industry.
- Oil Re-Refinery Plant: Dulsco commissioned a state-of-the-art waste Oil Re-Refinery Plant in Jebel Ali Free Zone for the oil and marine sectors in 2021, where oily waste is recovered and processed using the latest technology. It is one of the most advanced plants in the GCC region and meets all MARPOL and international standards.
- The New Old & Reloved by Dulsco: The company’s upcycling initiative, The New Old & Reloved by Dulsco, is in line with the UAE’s efforts to promote sustainability and protect the environment. “All the items available for sale are made from recycled materials which go through a transformation journey from waste to new and improved modern statement pieces,” explains Stockton. “This not only reduces the need to use new or raw materials to produce new furniture, but also results in a reduction in air and water pollution, as well as greenhouse gas emissions.”
- Material Recovery Facility: Dulsco’s manual sorting plant was launched in 2013 and within a few years exceeded its capacity of 40 tons per day. As such, a state-of-the-art material recovery facility, which is capable of processing in excess of 80,000 tons of material per annum, was launched earlier this year.
Secrets to success
Over the years, Dulsco has consistently shown impressive growth. The company currently has more than 3,500 active clients in the areas of people solutions, outsourcing solutions, environmental solutions, and medical services across UAE and boasts a remarkable retention rate, says Stockton.
He attributes the company’s success to several key factors. “I believe that Dulsco’s success and high retention rate can be credited to a combination of elements, including our expansive range of environmental solutions, our extensive experience, our dedicated and highly trained staff, and outstanding customer service.

“Of course, all of this is built on a foundation of sustainability, which is engrained in our guiding philosophy to power better communities and is expressed through our commitment to our customers, employees, and society,” he adds.
Further to the above, Stockton states that key partnerships contribute to the company’s achievements. “Dulsco seeks to play a leading national role in implementing sustainable infrastructure for the future, ensuring that our values are applied through investment, expertise and education in circular economy best practices and recycling projects. It is through partnerships, such as the one we have with Dubai Municipality, that we are able to achieve this.”
Looking forward to 2022
“We will continue our partnership with Expo 2020, which is running until March. We are also looking forward to expanding our reach and building our legacy through Birdy, our mascot. As a friendly and fun character that both children and adults can relate to, Birdy is a vital tool in helping to communicate serious environmental issues to the wider public and inspiring people to make better environmental choices,” says Stockton.
“Aside from that, we will continue to expand and enhance our services and solutions in an effort to make our communities happier, more sustainable, and more productive.”
